Belagavi : The four-member gang which kidnapped a person for money and kept under its hostage for 70 days was rounded up. The gang had kidnapped Shrikant Chougule from Bhandur galli in Belagavi and lodged him at farm house at Maharashtra for money and property.
The gang had forcibly made Shrikant to sit in the car in which they were jwhen he was going to get food from a hotel, near Deshpande Petrol Bunk and took him to Belavatti in Maharashtra where they lodged him in a farm house belonged to Chetan Patil and later shifted to Suresh Patil’ house. Shrikant was kept 40 days at farm house and 30 days at Suresh’ house.
They instructed Shrikant to give them the money he had at the bank and also his land. Shrikant has about Rs 35 lakh cash at his bank and 2 acre 20 gunta land at the outskirt of Belagavi. Since threatened and beaten allegedly Shrikant wrote some amount on the check and handed the gang. The gang also tried to get his open land into their name and couldn’t as the Sub Registrar office was closed due to lockdown.
As his family informed the police about the kidnapped matter, the police had informed the banks not to honour Shrikant’ cheques. The kidnappers who had gone to the bank to get encashed the cheque were told to bring Shrikant and were taken into custody by the police in civil dress. The Market police have also got freed kidnapped Shrikant.
